What do we Mean by, " Reducing the Cost of the School Day"? 

At our school, we believe that every child should be able to take part in all aspects of school life, regardless of family circumstances. We are committed to reducing the cost of the school day and ensuring that no child feels excluded because of financial barriers and instead all children feel included, valued, and able to succeed. 

How we Support Families

We work hard to reduce costs by: 

✅ Keeping school uniform expectations affordable and flexible and offering a pre-loved selection of school uniform items, including jackets, scarves, hats and gloves. 

✅ Considering costs when planning trips, events and activities – no family is charged for a school trip. 

✅ Transport costs for residential trips are generously met by the Catterline School Parent Group and parents are asked to contribute by paying for the accommodation. The school always books the cheapest week available in April or May to reduce this cost. 

✅ Offering discreet support to families experiencing financial difficulties. 

✅ Providing all learning resources required by pupils. 

✅ Promoting access to grants, benefits and funding available through Aberdeenshire Council.  

✅ Ensuring every child gets a gift from Santa.  

✅ Never charging families for tickets to our school shows, concerts, etc. 

✅ Offering free school meals to children in Primaries 1- 5. 

✅ Offering free music tuition. 

✅ Ensuring children can participate fully regardless of their family's financial situation.
